Bills’ championship roster eyes first Super Bowl title

Bills' championship roster eyes first Super Bowl title

Following their first division title in two decades and a trip to the AFC Championship Game, can Buffalo make it to the Super Bowl?

The Buffalo Bills have put together a championship-level team. Josh Allen is among the best quarterbacks in the NFL and their defense makes life difficult for opposing offenses. They were within one game of a Super Bowl appearance earlier this year- can they take the next step in 2021?

Best-case scenario

The Bills have the pieces to win the Super Bowl. Elite quarterback? Check. Dynamic playmakers for said elite quarterback to distribute the ball to? Check. Solid offensive line? They have that too. Good defense? Yup, they have that as well.

There are only a small handful teams that could derail the Bills quest for a Lombardi Trophy. There is a good chance that we get a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship Game between Buffalo and Kansas City. If that is the case, we’ll see if the Bills can dethrone the Chiefs as the AFC’s top dog.

Worst-case scenario

Barring anything chaotic, the Bills will be a playoff team. That said, once the tournament begins, anything can happen.

If Buffalo finds themselves facing a hot team like the Chargers or Browns in the Wildcard round, either team could give them fits. If the Steelers are healthy, I wouldn’t rule them out either. The Bills have the capability of beating all three of those teams, but all it takes in January is one bad game to end your season.

X-factor

Josh Allen is going to sling it, that’s all but certain. The Bills were very one-sided on offense, though, finishing 20th in the NFL in rushing.

Granted, they dealt with injuries up front, but Zach Moss and Devin Singletary have to give the offense more.

If Buffalo establishes a solid ground attack, then they will be even tougher to slow down than they were in 2020.

Biggest game – Week 5 at Kansas City

Week 5 will be arguably the biggest test of the season for the Bills. A rematch of January’s AFC Championship Game, and a potential glimpse at the 2021 matchup with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.

Remember, Buffalo held an early lead against the Chiefs before Kansas City came to life and ended the game somewhat handedly. Even if Buffalo doesn’t win this game, a whole lot of confidence can be taken from it if they take the Chiefs down to the wire.

Bold prediction

The Bills are solid all over the field and led by a tremendous quarterback.

There also might not be a team that benefits more from fans being back in full capacity than the Bills. It doesn’t matter if it’s 75 degrees or -13, fans will still be sending each other through tables in the parking lot and coming inside Highmark Stadium to scream as loud as they can.

The city of Buffalo will finally have a championship team when the 2021 season comes to its conclusion.
