Blue Jays claim Jake Lamb off waivers from White Sox

The Toronto Blue Jays have claimed utility man Jake Lamb off waivers from the Chicago White Sox, the team announced Friday.

Lamb, who made his MLB debut with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2014, had his most successful campaign in 2017, when he was named an All-Star.

The 30-year-old hasn’t reached that success again in the intervening years. Across 43 appearances with the Cubs this season, he slashed .212/.321/.389 with six home runs and 13 RBIs.

Lamb, after appearing in just two of the team’s last six games, was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Wednesday.

In a corresponding move to make room on the Blue Jays’ 40-man roster, pitcher Connor Overton has been designated for assignment.

Toronto also recalled pitcher Kirby Snead from tiple-A Buffalo, and have made him active for tonight’s game against the Oakland Athletics.
