Kansas City Chiefs players went straight for Baltimore Ravens’ Sammy Watkins and took him down prior to the start of Sunday Night Football.
It’s all love between Baltimore Ravens‘ WR Sammy Watkins and his former Kansas City Chiefs teammates. Before the Ravens took down the Chiefs, 36-35, in a thriller on Sunday Night Football, a trio of Kansas City Chiefs (gently) tackled Watkins pregame.
After spending the last three seasons in Kansas City, Watkins signed a one-year, $6 million deal with Baltimore in April. It’s not often that the Ravens aren’t favored to win at M&T Bank Stadium, but with the Chiefs coming to town that’s exactly what happened. It’s fitting that Sammy got to be part of a big victory over his former team during his first game lining up against them.
Kansas City Chiefs players happy to see former teammate Sammy Watkins
After you spend three years anywhere you make connections that will follow you wherever you go, especially if you win a Super Bowl, and Kansas City players were maybe a bit too excited to see Watkins pregame.
Chiefs’ WR Tyreek Hill led the charge to take Watkins down whenever Sammy was probably just expecting a simple handshake from his old friends. Kansas City got the first laugh, but Watkins got the final laugh after the Ravens escaped with a narrow win, thanks to late-game heroics from QB Lamar Jackson.
Sammy hasn’t recorded his first touchdown with Baltimore yet, but he’s still a valuable weapon in the Ravens’ offense. He knows what it takes to get to the Super Bowl and with 2021 being his eighth season in the league, his veteran presence is vital.
Will Sammy meet up with his former team again in the playoffs? For the sake of great football, let’s hope so.
