Darren Till feels he's still on track for a UFC title ahead of UFC Vegas 36

UFC middleweight contender Darren Till is ready for a middleweight title shot if he gets past Derek Brunson at UFC Vegas 36.

Darren Till knows he’s on the cusp of a UFC middleweight title shot and has put in the work to make that dream a reality. During his UFC Vegas 36 pre-fight press conference, Till made his plans to achieve UFC gold clear.

Despite losing three of his last four fights, Till is still in the thick of things despite his most recent loss to former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker. Till has only one win at middleweight, over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244.

“I wake up with purpose about what I want and where I want to be,” Till said. “It’s my journey. I’m right where I need to be and I’m working towards something here. I know how great I am and how great I can become.”

Till faces a tough challenge in Derek Brunson, who demolished Kevin Holland in his last fight at UFC Vegas 22. He has won his last four fights since falling to Israel Adesanya way back at UFC 230.

Despite his recent struggles, Till remains one of the brightest stars in the UFC. Till is seeking another shot at the belt after falling short at welterweight to Tyron Woodley. He has also recently not ruled out a future move back down to welterweight to fight Kamaru Usman.

A win over Brunson would catapult Till to a potential title shot in his next octagon appearance, and a fight between Till and the champion Adesanya may finally happen.

UFC Vegas 36 takes place on Sept. 4, live from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, NV. Follow along with FanSided for all your live news and highlights.
