Did Akeal Hosein Take The Best Catch of CPL History?

The 28-year old spinner who is usually known for miserly spells and literally spinning a web around his opponents, recently hit the headlines not because of his bowling at all. In Match 11 of the ongoing CPL 2021 season, Hosein was the talk of the town because of a stunning boundary line catch which is being spoken about as one of the best catches in CPL history.

If your memory serves you right, you will be taken back to a great boundary catch taken by Fabian Allen a few seasons ago, but Hosein has given him tough competition. Standing on the boundary at deep extra cover, Guyana Amazon Warriors captain Nicholas Pooran smashed a flat ball towards Hosein, which was picked out by a single hand, and the latter managed to stay within the boundary despite a fall.

While this catch was a highlight of the game, it wasn’t unfortunately enough for his team Trinbago to go on to win. The match ended as a tie and Guyana Warriors finished victorious after the Super Over. At the end of the game, it was Romario Shepherd who was adjudged man of the match, making it a bitter-sweet day for Hosein.
