There two meetings to look at on Thursday, with Albion Park and Mildura getting my focus. The best bets for the respective programs are down below.

Albion Park

Best bet: Race 10, Number 1, Flashy Seb
There was some heart in the mouth stuff at the start, but if he gets away cleanly and does everything right, he will be winning and winning comfortably. Prior to the last error-riddled run, he showed good ability and was too good for them. I’m banking on him bringing that here.

Next-best: Race 9, Number 1, Mullum Steffi
A progressive trotting filly for Darren Garrard that looks extremely hard to beat in this event. Looking to make it three on the bounce, the latest run saw her win in a field of three that ended up being a field of two after one of the runners galloped out, but that aside, she was still impressive. If she steps away cleanly, she’ll take beating.

Value: Race 1, Number 8, Ifoundthebeach
A veteran of 196 starts, he’s just about in career-best form with two wins on the bounce, each time getting a good drag into the race and finishing best to win. There is a bit more depth to the lineup this time around but he draws to stalk the leader, three back the fence at worst and be dangerous with clear air.

Mildura

Best Bet: Race 8, Number 8, Bernie Winkle
All things being equal, he should be miles too good for this lot. He ran on Saturday night at Geelong in the fast-class event for the meeting and was very good in defeat without much luck behind Western Sonador. He’s the ‘King Of Mildura’ and will confirm that furthermore here.

Next-best: Race 11, Number 1, Whereyagoinbabe
She’s a hard horse to catch but has a perfect gate to use gate speed, hold the lead and prove hard to get past. She hasn’t had much luck with barriers in recent runs but that changes here. Her recent numerical form is nothing flashy, but does appear hard to beat should she hold the front.

Value: Race 9, Number 7, Lochster
He can hold the spot behind the leader and if that eventuates, he’s in with a big shout at odds. He has been in pretty good form of late, his latest run being a close up fourth here last Friday night. He needs luck, but if he does get it, he’ll run a positive race at a price.
