IPL 2021: Watch - Glenn Maxwell Knocked Over By Varun Chakravarthy As RCB Sink Further

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) slipped further as they have lost half the side with the fall of Glenn Maxwell in the 12th over bowled by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spinner, Varun Chakravarthy.

Virat Kohli chose to bat first after winning the toss. He walked out to open in his 200th game for the RCB franchise. Kohli played a crisp drive on the rise off Prasidh Krishna but fell the very next ball.

The side began to crumble very soon and with AB de Villiers going for a first-ball duck, their decision to bat first backfired. Maxwell was the last hope for the RCB, but he also fell, going for a wild slog against the wily Chakravarthy.

The KKR spinner floated one that landed on the middle and leg stump. It was a wrong-un which Maxwell failed to read. He opened up to launch it outside the stadium but the ball ripped past the willow and crashed the top of leg stump. It was Chakravarthy’s first wicket of the game.

Earlier, the RCB franchise announced that it would be donating to frontline workers for every boundary or wicket taken by the side. Kohli’s men are also sporting a blue jersey to honor the work done by the workers against the covid pandemic.

The match also marks Kohli’s 200th game for RCB, a feat achieved for a single franchise by no other player. MS Dhoni is the next on the list, representing Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 182 matches.

Unfortunately for the RCB skipper, the milestone has turned out to be nothing but miserable. He was dismissed on 5 by an in-ducker from Krishna, a mode of dismissal that has become quite synonymous with the legendary batsman.
