You aren’t the only one getting notifications on social media about memories from the past. Jamal Murray shared that he’s been getting notifications on Twitter relating to his historic individual run in the 2020 NBA bubble. Murray went ballistic on the Jazz in last year’s first-round. His heroics led a thrilling Denver Nuggets to come back from 3-1.

“Every other day I get a notification bout a year ago hahah I musta been doin somethin crazy.”Jamal Murray

What Jamal Murray accomplished in Games 4, 5, and 6 of last year’s first-round was “crazy.” Murray went blow-for-blow with Utah’s Donovan Mitchell in what essentially became a duel between the two. In the three must-win games, Murray averaged 47 points and put up 50 in Game 6 to force a Game 7. Mitchell averaged 36 points in the series, Murray averaged 31 points and walked away with the series victory.

While Jamal Murray’s bubble run gave hope for a Nuggets title run in 2021, a Murray ACL injury derailed Denver’s season. Murray landed awkwardly on a drive to the hoop during a game against the Golden State Warriors on April 12, 2021. The next day the Nuggets announced he would be out indefinitely due to an ACL tear.

Jamal Murray is attacking his rehab

Typically, the recovery from an ACL tear can last from 6 months to about a year. While an ACL repair is a brutal injury to recover from, Murray has been making incredible strides during rehabilitation. The Nuggets, and Murray, have been documenting his comeback, and he’s looking stronger than ever. For a team that had title aspirations before Murray’s injury, his return can’t come soon enough.

Other high-profile players have also experienced ACL injuries. Klay Thompson tore his during the 2019 Finals and has yet to return. Kawhi Leonard partially tore his during the Clippers Western Conference Semi-Final. Luckily, there is precedent for stars making a full recovery from ACL injuries, and the most significant barrier is time. Here’s hoping for full recoveries for each of these stars this season.
