Jason Heyward and the Cubs love spoiling Reds playoff chances

The Chicago Cubs won’t be playing in the postseason this year, but they’re ready to make sure the Reds miss out on things as well.

It’s been such an incredibly strange year for the Chicago Cubs, but this team is ready to make plenty of noise this month even if that means no playoffs. That’s unfortunate news for the Cincinnati Reds.

The Reds are fighting for their playoff lives, as they’re in the NL Wild Card hunt behind the Dodgers and Padres. On Wednesday, though, things went south when Jason Heyward drilled a walk-off three-run homer for the Cubs.

If you ask the veteran lefty, it sure was sweet for more than one reason.

Jason Heyward loves playing spoiler going up against the Cincinnati Reds

Cubs fans have got to love seeing this spirit from Heyward. Before the trade deadline, he saw Javy Baez, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo and Craig Kimbrel all get traded. It surely had to be difficult for him. Instead of moping or demanding to be shipped out of town too, he continues to play with heart and passion.

His walk-off dinger against Cincinnati was a true no-doubter that fired off the scoreboard. It’s a blast that you’re going to want to see for yourself.

Talk about a perfect blast. Again, the Cubs won’t be sniffing the postseason this year and they’re clearly in a rebuild. With that said, this team isn’t just going to roll over and let teams have their way with them.

Instead, the guys still rocking the Chicago jersey will do everything they can to record wins the rest of the way. Hey, if the Cubs have to play spoiler, they’ll do so and have a ton of fun while doing it. This is not a club you’re going to want to face down the stretch.
