Men's Hoops Announces 2021-22 Non-Conference Schedule


STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut men’s basketball team has finalized its 2021-22 non-conference schedule, as announced on Wednesday afternoon.  The 11-games include six home contests, four neutral-site matchups and one true road game. 

A matchup against Southeastern Conference power Auburn in the first round of the Battle 4 Atlantis, with two more games against the impressive field in that tournament, plus a game at West Virginia in the BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle, highlight the docket.

A neutral-site clash against Atlantic 10 favorite St. Bonaventure in the Never Forget Tribute Classic and an intrastate battle against Central Connecticut are also part of the 11-game UConn non-conference schedule, which will combine with 20 games against BIG EAST opponents to make up the Huskies’ full 31-game slate.

The UConn season opens at home on Tuesday, Nov. 9, playing Central Connecticut for the 16th time. The Huskies follow that on Saturday, Nov. 13, entertaining Coppin State.


Two more home games take place during the following week, as UConn takes on LIU on Wednesday, Nov. 17, and Binghamton on Saturday, Nov. 20.

The Huskies travel to the Bahamas for their third-ever appearance in the Battle 4 Atlantis during Thanksgiving week, taking on Auburn on Wednesday, Nov. 24 (2:30 p.m., ESPN), in the first round of the Battle 4 Atlantis and either Michigan State or Loyola-Chicago on Thursday, Nov. 25. In its final game in Atlantis on Friday, Nov. 26, the Huskies’ opponent will come from among Arizona State, defending NCAA champion Baylor, Syracuse, or VCU.

Back at home on Wednesday, Dec. 1, UConn entertains Maryland-Eastern Shore and follows that with a home game on Saturday, Dec. 4, against Grambling State.

Two special games will wrap up the Huskies’ non-conference schedule, starting with the trip to Morgantown, WVa., for the BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle on Wednesday, Dec. 8.

The non-conference slate will be completed on Saturday, Dec. 11, as the Huskies participate in an historic Never Forget Tribute Classic against St. Bonaventure in a doubleheader at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. The UConn women will challenge UCLA in the Classic opener at 1 p.m., (ABC), while the men will follow with a game against Top 20-projected St. Bonaventure (3:30 p.m., ESPN2).


The remainder of the game times and television coverage, as well as which of UConn’s home games with be held at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs and which at the XL Center in Hartford will be announced at a later date.
