Minnesota star running back Mohamed Ibrahim will miss the remainder of the 2021 season after suffering a lower-leg injury in Thursday’s 45-31 loss to Ohio State, coach P.J. Fleck announced Monday.
“There is no replacing Mohamed Ibrahim,” Fleck said, according to the Star Tribune. “He’s a special, special player.”
Ibrahim will undergo surgery on Tuesday. He had 163 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries before being injured late in the third quarter of Thursday’s game.
The fifth-year senior limped off the field and went to Minnesota’s injury tent before walking to the locker room with a boot on his left foot. Fleck didn’t specify the injury but said Ibrahim would be able to make a full recovery in four to six months.
