After the shocking death of actor Michael K. Williams, Baltimore Orioles play-by-play announcer Kevin Brown paid tribute to him on his home-run call of Austin Hays‘ moonshot on Tuesday night.

Williams played the iconic role of Omar Little on The Wire, one of the most celebrated television shows in the history of the viewing medium that just so happened to be set in the Charm City. Naturally, Baltimore is upset over Williams’ tragic loss. So when Brown said “you come at the king, you best not miss” as Hays rounded first base, it pulled on the heartstrings of all of Baltimore.

The Orioles went on to defeat the Kansas City Royals 7-3 on Tuesday night at Camden Yards.

Even if you never watched a second of The Wire, you should be familiar with Williams’ role as Omar. His performance as Little was as authentic as it gets and was an outstanding display of acting. Anytime an actor who had played in that iconic of a role passes away tragically, we are all reminded of how brilliant he was at his craft and how much we will miss him going forward.
