Ronnie Bell injury update: Michigan receiver carted off field with leg injury

[ad_1]

Michigan’s most reliable receiver the last two years was injured in Saturday’s game vs. Western Michigan.

Ronnie Bell, who led the Wolverines in receptions and receiving yards each of the last two seasons, was injured after a 31-yard punt return midway through the second quarter. Immediately after Bell hit the turf, he grabbed at his right knee; he tried to limp off the field before trainers attended to him; he put no weight on his right knee as he was helped off.

Shortly after leaving the field, a clearly emotional Bell was carted off the field into the tunnel at Michigan Stadium:

Bell was later spotted in a wheelchair.

Even in his limited play, Bell showcased his playmaking ability against the Broncos: He had a one-handed catch along the sidelines (the play didn’t count) and also had a 76-yard touchdown reception, his only one of the game.

Bell led the Wolverines in 2019 and ’20 in both receptions (48 and 26, respectively) and receiving yards (758 and 401 yards, respectively). Counting Saturday’s score, he has five touchdown receptions for his career.
