Aaron Donald is one of the best defensive talents the NFL has ever seen. However, he is now 30, and his dominance will not last forever. As a result, coach Sean McVay wants to make sure Donald gets a Super Bowl ring before it’s all said and done.

The Rams have been close. They even made the Super Bowl just three seasons ago. However, they haven’t been able to get the job done. As a result, McVay knows it’s on him, and getting Donald a ring is an extra motivation.

“I love this guy, and this guy is as much motivation as anybody for why, if we don’t win a Super Bowl — if this guy doesn’t get one — then shame on me.”Sean McVay

The Rams are going into the 2021 season with high expectations. Matthew Stafford is now their starting quarterback, and they think he might be that missing piece. In addition, they are looking to build off of a strong season from their defense.

The Rams reached the Divisional Round of the playoffs but lost to the Green Bay Packers. Donald had a pretty bad rib injury but battled through it because he thought the Rams had a real chance of making the Super Bowl.

“He was going to do everything in his power to be out there with his teammates. This guy is the epitome of a warrior, and I love him. The plan going in was seeing how he feels, and he’s kind of always got that ability to tell us how he’s feeling.”Sean McVay

Father-time is something every superstar has to face. Donald is still the most dominant defensive player in the NFL. However, he and McVay both know this reign of dominance won’t last forever.

The Rams start this with a Sunday night primetime game against the Chicago Bears. McVay knows this season is important and wants to lead the Rams and Donald to a Super Bowl championship. The team has all the pieces, and now it’s just a matter of putting it all together.
