Transfer window potential deals

Tottenham have terminated Serge Aurier’s contract by mutual consent in the final hours of this summer’s transfer window.

Aurier joined Spurs in a £23million transfer from PSG back in 2017 and has made 110 appearances in all competitions for the club.

But in recent months the 28-year-old has slipped down the pecking order at White Hart Lane and hasn’t played a match under new boss Nuno Santo Espirito this season.

Aurier is in need of a new challenge and following Tottenham’s signing of full-back Emerson Royal on a five-year deal from Barcelona, the defender agreed with Spurs to end his contract in north London early.

In a short statement posted on Tottenham’s official website, a spokesman for Spurs announced: “The club can confirm the departure of Serge Aurier following the mutual termination of his contract.

“Signed from PSG in August 2017, Serge made his debut in our 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League before going on to make 110 appearances for us, scoring eight goals.

“We thank Serge for his service and wish him well for the future.”

Aurier said in response to the news: “I have really enjoyed my time at Spurs and would like to thank the Club and the fans, but I feel now is the right time for me to move onto a new challenge.”

Spurs splashed out £25million on new right-back Emerson earlier on deadline day.

A Spurs statement read: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Emerson Royal from Barcelona, subject to international clearance and a work permit.

“The right-back has signed a contract with us until 2026 and will wear the number 12 shirt. Emerson will travel to London from Spain later this week.”
