Warriors’ Moses Moody signs multi-year deal with Nike

Warriors’ Moses Moody signs multi-year deal with Nike

Warrior’s lottery pick Moses Moody signed an endorsement deal with Nike that will span multiple years. The deal puts Moody in elite company with other Nike athletes such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant, to name a few.

The signing comes after Moody excelled at the NBA’s Summer League.

During his run in Los Vegas, Moody averaged 16.3 points in four summer league outings. While Moses Moody will be joining Nike, he isn’t the only Warrior to get a deal this summer.

Fellow Warriors draft pick Jonathan Kuminga also signed a contract with Nike before draft night. The two players represent exciting young prospects for the Warriors.

Kuminga was the 7th pick in the 2021 draft, while Moody was the 14th pick.

Coming out of Arkansas, Moody has shown flashes of what he can become in the NBA. Moody is a strong defender and a capable shooter from three.

While he may have been the 14th pick, Moody’s upside is apparent enough that both Nike and the Warriors have put stock in him.

Moody and Kuminga are not the only rookies getting endorsements

The 2021 NBA Draft class has sparked a lot of excitement throughout the League and commercial brands. Of the 14 lottery picks this year, eight players have signed endorsement deals.

Nike has claimed number 1 overall draft pick Cade Cunningham, as well as Scottie Barnes and Chris Duarte, in addition to Kuminga and Moody.

Conversely, Adidas has signed 2nd overall pick Jalen Green, 3rd pick Evan Mobley, and 5th pick Jalen Suggs.

This amount of endorsements for a rookie class is uncommon. For comparison, in the entire 2020 draft class, only one player received a sneaker or apparel deal before the season.

That player? LaMelo Ball, who inked a multi-year contract with Puma.

In the future, we’ll have to see if the bright 2021 draft class can live up to the lofty expectations.
