Friday’s game will be the first regular season game for the Huskies, who met Quinnipiac last week in an exhibition game in Hamden. UConn and LIU have met just two times, both coming in the 2019-2020 season. In an away series, the Huskies came out on top in both games, outscoring the Sharks 10-1 in the two games.
The Huskies finished the shortened 2020-2021 season with a 9-10-1 record. After beating Boston College 5-1 in the first round of the Hockey East Championship, UConn fell to No. 1 Northeastern 2-1 in the semifinal game. Building off last season, the team will look to veterans like graduate student forward Natalie Snodgrass and senior forward Viki Harkness to continue the program’s success.
Following the LIU series, the Huskies will head to Rochester, New York for a weekend series against RIT. Games are scheduled for Friday, October 8th at 6:00pm and Saturday, October 9th at 2:00pm.
