STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women’s cross country team heads to the Coast-to-Coast Beantown Batlle this Friday, hosted by Boston College. The Huskies are once again at No. 1 in this week’s USTFCCCA Northeast Regional poll and come in at No. 22 in this week’s National Coaches’ Poll.
The women’s featured 5k race will step off at 3:00 pm, weather pending, at Franklin Park in Boston, the site of this year’s NCAA Regional race. The Huskies will be racing against host Boston College, Albany, Army, Boston University, Brown, Columbia, Delaware, Duke, Harvard, Maine, UMass, UMass Lowell, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Northeastern, Providence, Rhode Island, Santa Clara, Syracuse and Yale.
The Huskies are back in action after a week off and after picking up their second team win of the season at the Ken O’Brien Minuteman Invitational. UConn had their five top runners all finish inside the top-10 while their entire seven athlete line-up was in the top-15 at UMass. UConn senior Mia Nahom (New Milford, Conn.) made her season debut and took second place in the field, posting a time of 17:20. The Huskies had their full race lineup at UMass.
Following Friday’s race in Boston, the Huskies will be off until Friday, October 15 when they run in the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.
