WWE News: John Cena had a tough time at Summerslam

John Cena was touted to dethrone the Head of the Table as the Universal Champion and become a record 17-time World Champion. However, it turned out to be an unsolved misery for John Cena, who succumbed to his second loss at the hands of Roman Reigns.

Roman defeated John Cena at the No Mercy PPV in 2017, and four years later, in 2021, the Head of the Table humiliated the Leader of Cenation at WWE Summerslam. By the looks of their match, it seemed like John Cena was brought back as a scapegoat to glorify Roman Reigns’ stint as the Universal Champion, and his crushing defeat was all about helping Vince McMahon in Roman’s push.

WWE News: Will Cena return anytime soon?

The Summer of John Cena is officially ended with a defeat at Summerslam PPV. He is off to Hollywood to film his next projects, but John Cena is scheduled to appear on the September 10 edition of Super Smackdown scheduled at the Madison Square Garden in New York. That would be his final appearance of this run until we see him return next time.
