Ohio State vs. Minnesota live updates, highlights

9:59 p.m: TOUCHDOWN OHIO STATE. C.J. Stroud with tons of time on the play action pass and he finds star wide receiver Chris Olave for a 38-yard touchdown, the first of Stroud’s collegiate career. Ohio State 17, Minnesota 14. Stroud was inaccurate for much of the first half but we’ll see what that score does for his confidence and accuracy as he puts Ohio State back in front.

9:58 p.m: The Buckeyes are going with a run heavy offense out of halftime and Miyan Williams again with a big gain, this time for 15 yards.

9:55 p.m: Ohio State’s first run of the second half is from CJ Stroud who takes it for five yards.

Halftime: Minnesota 14, Ohio State 10

9:39 p.m.: Some halftime stats: The rushing battle is nearly even with 127 yards for the Buckeyes and 124 for the Gophers, though Ohio State has spread the ball around much more and most of Ohio State’s ground yardage came on an early 70+-yard touchdown. Meanwhile, most of Minnesota’s yardage has come from one player rather than one play, with Mohamed Ibrahim totaling 114 yards.

Neither quarterback has played particularly well as Stroud is just 8-for-14 with 58 yards and an interception while Tanner Morgan is just 4-of-10 for 49 yards and a touchdown.

The Gophers have a pretty sizable lead in time of possesion at 18:19 compared to just over 11 minutes for the Buckeyes who trail the first down battle 10-8.

9:34 p.m.: Tanner Morgan is sacked on the Ohio State 41 to bring up fourth-down-and 17 to end the first half with the Gophers up 14-10.

9:31 p.m.: Minnesota sticks with what works and gives it to Ibrahim again, this time for 11 to the Ohio State 45-yard line with just over a minute remaining in the half. Ibrahim, who led the Big Ten in rushing a year ago is up over 100 yards already, with 114 yards on 19 carries.

9:28 p.m.: A huge stop for the Gophers who bring the pressure and force Stroud to run out of bounds at the line of scrimmage. The Buckeyes punt it away with 1:28 left in the second from their own 28. Minnesota takes over at their own 44.

9:27 p.m.: After starting 5-of-7, Stroud is just 3-of-7 since and the Buckeyes face third-and-9 with just over two minutes left in the first half.

9:23 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN MINNESOTA. The third time’s indeed the charm as the Gophers feed Ibrahim one more time and hit paydirt as he notches a 1-yard touchdown run, his first of the season. Minnesota 14, Ohio State 10. The Gophers have the momentum so far with 3:32 left in the second quarter.

9:18 p.m.: The Gophers are marching right now and Ohio State doesn’t seem to have an answer as Ibrahim takes it for six yards for the first and then Morgan finds Brevyn Spann-Ford wide open for 16 yards and another first down. Minnesota ball at the Ohio State 7-yard line.

9:16 p.m: MINNESOTA INTERCEPTION. Stroud’s been inaccurate all night and has overthrown several balls. This one finally comes back to haunt him as the Gophers take over with eight minutes left at the 41.

9:03 p.m.: Minnesota stays on the field and goes for it on fourth-and-1 and it pays off big time. First real rush of the game from Ibrahim and the first real taste of why he was the conference’s top running back a year ago. Picks up 56 yards to put the Gophers at the Ohio State 15.

9:00 p.m.: After stopping Minnesota on the run once again, the Gophers are faced with fourth-and-1 on their own 29 with 10:39 left in the second. The Gophers originally opted to go for it but Ryan Day and Ohio State call their first timeout of the half.

8:39: With three minutes left and counting, Ohio State faces third-and-4 and Master Teague has his offensive line to thank as they create a nice hole for him on a 10 yard rush for a first down.

8:37 p.m.: Ohio State’s second offensive drive of the game begins with 4:37 left in the first quarter at the Buckeyes’ own 9 yard line.
